Treasurer's Office

The City Treasurer is responsible for the collection and reconciliation of all city funds, including taxes, water & sewer, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. In addition to the supervision of customer service at the City Hall front Counter and the Municipal Ordinance Violation Bureau.

Types of Taxes

Real Property

Real property taxes are payable at the City of Saline Treasurers office until March 1st annually. After March 1st the real tax roll is submitted to the Washtenaw County Treasurer for collection and foreclosure proceedings. Once the bills are submitted to the County Treasurers office the collection proceedings and assistance starts immediately.

Washtenaw County has staff that can assist tax payers in confidential budget counseling and assist in establishing payment arrangements to help during these difficult times. Personal Property

Personal property taxes are billed and payable to the City Treasurers office. Unpaid personal property taxes are subject to collection proceedings as directed by Saline City Council including but not limited to, seizure of equipment, sue the firm or corporation to whom the tax is assessed or turned over to a collection agency with additional fees.

Payment Options

In Person

At the Saline Municipal Building located at 100 N Harris check and cash are accepted. Business hours are Monday thru Friday 8:30-5:00 except for holidays. There is also a “slot” to drop payments off at the Municipal Building after hours; envelopes are provided. The payment slides into a basket under the front counter on the City Hall side of the building. Please do NOT put cash in the “slot” drop.

By Mail

To City of Saline Treasurer’s Office, 100 N Harris, Saline, MI 48176. Pre addressed envelopes are included with your bill. NOTE: The City of Saline does not accept responsibility for delayed or lost mail. It is crucial that you allow the required amount of time for the payment to reach us and understand that penalty and interest will be charged if the payment is received by us after the due date regardless of the postmark.

Drop Box

Located in Parking lot #3 (behind Comerica Bank) The drop box contents are picked up daily. Payments must be in the drop box by 4:00 on the due date to avoid penalty and interest. Please do NOT put Cash in the drop box.

Online

Online Payments is located on the top right of the screen. On Line directions will be included with your bill. The advantage of On Line Payments is you can schedule the payment the day you get the bill in the mail and nothing will come out of your account until the due date. That’s one way to avoid any Penalty. Your payment can be paid directly from a checking or savings account or a credit card-additional fees required.
