The Liebherr family business was established in 1949 by Hans Liebherr. Today Liebherr is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of construction machinery and is an acknowledged supplier of technically innovative user-oriented products and services in numerous other fields. The family business has grown into what is today a group of companies, employing a workforce of 32,600 in more than 100 companies on all continents.
The decentrally organized Liebherr Group is divided into company units of manageable size, operating independently. This is to ensure proximity to the customer and the ability to respond flexibly to market signals in global competition. Operative management of the production and sales companies for the individual product segments is in the hands of divisional control companies.
The Liebherr Group operates three company units in Saline:
- Liebherr-Aerospace Saline, Inc. produces air management, actuation systems, landing gear, and hydraulic systems.
- Liebherr Gear Technology Inc. produces gear cutting machines and gear cutting tools.
- Liebherr Automation Systems Co. produces material handling systems, transportation systems, magazine systems, and production systems.
Kunststoff-Technik Scherer & Trier
Kunststoff-Technik Scherer & Trier has evolved into an international group of companies and currently has over 2000 employees around the world. Despite this growth we have never discarded the thinking and behavior patterns of a traditional, family-owned company. Aside from the premise that we develop and manufacture products of the highest quality and reliability to meet customer requirements, there are also values like fairness, humaneness and social responsibility which play a special role for us.
Since 2005 the Trier Group is also at home in the North American market with a production facility of its own. In the foreground of the internationalization there was a desire to supply customers in the US from a local facility.
Today, More than 50 employees work in Saline to implement extruded and injection molded plastic and hybrid solutions. This facility is certified in accordance with ISO/TS 16949 and was honored by Ford in 2009 with the Q1-Award.
