Saline Recreation Center Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I use the Rec Center without joining?
A. Yes. You can purchase a daily pass.

  • Adult admission (19-59 years) is $12
  • Child admission (3-18 years) is $5
  • Senior admission (60+ years) is $8

Q. What are your hours?
A. Monday through Friday 5:30 am – 10:00 pm; Saturday & Sunday 6:00 am – 6:00 pm

Q. Do I have to be a resident of Saline to join the Rec Center?
A. No. Anyone may join the Rec Center.

Q. I live in the Saline Area School district, am I considered a resident?
A. Yes. Those who live, work or own property within the Saline Area School District are eligible for resident pricing.

Q. I am considering a family membership, what constitutes a family?
A. Those persons living together as parents/guardians and dependants claimed on their taxes.

Q. What is included in the price of a membership?
A. Both annual and monthly membership are entitled to use the swimming pools, fitness rooms, any gymnasium. Annual members also receive select land fitness classes for free as well as Kids Corner child care.  

Q. I’d like to purchase an annual membership. Do I have to pay all at once?
A. No. We offer both annual prepaid memberships as well as 12 month contract memberships.  The 12 month contract plan features recurring billing in the form of electronic fund transfers.  

Q. Who should my check be payable to?
A. Please make your check payable to the City of Saline.

Q. How do I check in at the Rec Center when I have a membership?
A. Check in at the front desk each time you enter the building. Either give your name or membership number to the front desk staff. They will log you into our computer system. It is not necessary to check out when you leave.

Q. Will you issue me a membership card when I join?
A. No. Our front desk staff will take a photo ID of you (which stays in our computer system). When you check in at the front desk, your photo identifies you as a member.

Q. Is my membership refundable?
A. No, except in the case of relocation or medical reasons. Written documentation must be submitted to the Parks & Recreation Director in advance. A $25 administration fee will be deducted from the refund.

Q. I’ll be away for at least 3 months. Can I put my membership on hold until I get back?
A. Yes. Annual members may freeze their membership one time for 3-6 months per 12-month period due to temporary relocation or for medical reasons. A “freeze form” application must be submitted to the Parks & Recreation Director in advance. A $10 processing fee is due at the time of the request.

Q. Do you issue free guest passes with memberships?
A. No. Daily passes are available for purchase for guests.

Q. I have an annual membership and am having family members visit from out of town for a few days. Can they use the Rec Center?
A. Yes. Visiting family or friends can use the Rec Center by purchasing a daily pass. See our brochure for current daily fees.

Q. How old does my child have to be to use the Rec Center without me present?
A. Children must be ten years of age or older to enter and use the Rec Center without adult supervision.

Q. Do you supply towels?
A. No. You must bring your own or purchase on at the front desk for $5.00

Q. Do you have a sauna?
A. No, but we do have a hot tub.

Q. I’m not a member. Can I still take classes at the Rec Center?
A. Yes. See the brochure for the non-member class rates.

Q. Are classes included in the price of the membership?
A. Yes and No. Annual memberships will include certain land fitness classes for free like yoga, Pilates, cycling, Body Conditioning, Total Fitness, Zumba, and WOW, etc.  A list of qualifying classes will be posted and may change at any time.  Specialty classes such as personal training and Jujitsu do not qualify. Classes, programs, and events that occur in the Aquatics Center like water aerobics, Aqua Zumba, and swim classes, are not included.

Q. Do you offer child care?
A. Yes. Our Kids Corner program, run by our trained and caring staff, ensures that your child will have a fun experience while you enjoy your workout. Children 2 months to 9 years of age may utilize this service. This service is free for annual members.

Q. Do you have personal trainers?
A. Yes. We have several certified trainers that can assist you with your fitness goals. Each session is one hour. Contact the front desk for more information.

Q. Do you have a family/special needs changing room?
A. Yes. Our family & special needs changing room features 2 private changing rooms, a bathroom and 25 lockers. It is intended for: Parents with opposite gender children who are 5-9 years old and guests with special needs.

Q. Do I have to lock up my personal belongings when using the Rec Center?
A. Yes. Lockers are available to lock up your belongings. We recommend not bringing valuables or money into the building.

Q. What type of lock should I use?
A. Master lock is a good brand. Use any kind of lock with a hasp size of ¾” and a recommended shackle height of 5/8. Locks are not allowed on lockers overnight.

Q. Do you have a lost and found?
A. Yes. It is located by the women’s locker room for general items such as bags, towels, and clothing.

Q. What type of cardio machines to you have?
A. Most of our cardio equipment is Precor brand. We do have NuStep and SciFit.

Q. Do you have Nautilus equipment?
A. Yes. Our Nautilus equipment is arranged so you can complete a full fitness circuit.

Q. How old do you have to be to use the Cardio/Nautilus equipment?
A. You must be at least 16 years of age. 12-15 year olds are permitted when accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian or they may use the equipment unaccompanied if they take and pass our fee based Youth Fitness Room Orientation class.

Q. I there a time limit on the cardio machines?
A. Yes. There is a 30 minute time limit on the cardio equipment.

Q. Do you have a free weight room?
A. Yes. The free weight room is expansive and is separate from the cardio and nautilus weight rooms.

Q. How old do you have to be to use the free weight room?
A. You must be at least 16 years of age.

Q. Do you have any racquetball courts?
A. Yes we have one court. There is a $5.00 per hour rental fee (for both members and non-members).

Q. What type of fitness classes do you offer?
A. We offer a wide variety of classes: TRX, low impact aerobics, spinning, kickboxing, body conditioning, pilates, yoga, water aerobics, Zumba and more!

Q. What time of day do you offer fitness classes?
A. Fitness classes are offered 7 days a week early mornings, mid-day, afternoon and evening. There is a time that will fit your schedule.

Q. Do you offer fitness classes for seniors?
A. Yes. Many of the classes we offer are well suited for seniors. Lifetime fitness and low stress water aerobics are two of the most popular classes.

Q. What classes do you offer to children throughout the year?
A. In addition to swim lessons, there are numerous others offered. Some include, pee wee soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, tennis and sports clinics. See the brochure for seasonal offerings.

Q. Do you offer any special events for children during the year?
A. Yes. We offer a lot of fun events for children of all ages. Many events are seasonal:  Springfest (egg hunt, egg dive, lunch with the bunny), Daddy Daughter Dance, Boo Bash, Princesses and Super Hero party, PJ’s and Stories with Santa and more.

Q. My child will be off school during summer, winter and spring breaks. Do you offer any weekly camps for children while I’m working?
A. Yes. We offer Kid’s camp during Saline Area School scheduled breaks. These week long day camps offer fun activities for your child. Campers play games, go swimming, and make arts & crafts projects, field trips and more. See the brochure for more details.

Q. Do you offer any programs when school is off?
A. Yes. We call them Fun Day Mini Camps!

Q. Do you offer any martial arts programs?
A. Yes. We offer Jujitsu for both adults and children.
