Residential yard waste collection begins on April 1, 2021 and will continue through the first week of December.

The following are standard regulations for yard waste collection.
Acceptable Items
- Grass Clippings
- Leaves
- Garden Debris
- Shrubs
- Fruit & Vegetable Waste
- Branches: Must be tied & bundled; less than 4-inches in diameter; less than 4-feet in length.
Unacceptable Items
- Sod
- Pet Waste (please double-bag & place in trash container)
- Loose Branches: Not tied or bundled
- Branches over 4-inches in diameter and/or 4-feet in length
- Bag, Bundle, or Can over 60-pounds
- Tree Stumps / Logs / Root Balls / Wood
- Dirt / Rocks
- Trash
- Plastic Bags (yard waste must be placed in paper bag or reusable can)
Weekly Limit:
- Combined total of six (6) yard waste paper bags, reusable cans, or tied bundles.
- Any single paper bag, tied bundle or container must weigh 60-pounds or less.
Acceptable Containers:
- Brown Paper Yard Waste Bag: No yard waste sticker needed.
- Reusable 32-Gallon Can: Must have ‘YARD WASTE’ clearly marked on can with permanent marker or yard waste sticker (available at City Hall or DPW).
Large Branches:
Branches over 4-feet long but less than 8-feet long, and not greater than 6-inches in diameter, can be collected by scheduling a pick-up in advance by calling Waste Management at (866) 797-9018.
Michigan law prohibits yard waste from being placed into landfills.
All yard waste will be collected in separate vehicles and taken to a compost center for processing.
