Mill Pond Park, at 54 acres, is the largest of the Saline community parks. It remains an ever-popular destination in the city, hosting a multitude of events each year. The park is located on the north side of Michigan Avenue, directly across from Curtiss Park. Entrance to the park is gained from the corner of Bennett Street and Mill Road, via an extension of Bennett Street or a pedestrian path.

Mill Pond Park features its own 68-spot parking lot, ample space for most functions. Park amenities include open and wooded areas, a boat launch for motor-less boating; a pavilion, which may be rented for events, with water, electricity as well as ADA accessible restrooms, a number of soccer fields, a Gaga Ball pit and wide open spaces. Many nature trails; a one-acre dog park with water access; the enormous ROMP (Recreate Our Mill Pond Park) play structure; picnic areas, including on-site grills; a plethora of benches throughout the park; and a sizeable boulder, often painted by residents for announcements. The many features of Mill Pond Park provide ample opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment.

Take a stroll along the nature trails, fish the Saline River, go canoeing on the 20.5 acre pond or walk along the shore line of the historic Mill Pond created by Henry Ford to power his auto industry at Schuyler Mills (now the beautiful Wellers Banquet facility) just across the park on US 12. At Mill Pond Park you can have a picnic, host an event at the pavilion, go sledding and cross-country skiing, or take the dog out for a walk.

In addition to these activities, Mill Pond Park is host to several of the city’s events.  The Saline Celtic Festival takes place every July. There are also many free events that take place at Mill Pond Park. The Movies in the Park series shows movies on a twenty-foot inflatable screen every month throughout the summer.  The Mini Mastodon is a youth fun run event offered the last day of school.  Rec on the Go is held Fridays at Mill Pond Park in the summer for youth ages 5-12. This is a beautiful four season park offering something for everyone.
