Public Safety
The Saline Police Department is staffed with 18 employees, 7 Reserve Officers, 10 Crossing Guards and 20 Cadet Volunteers to serve this beautiful community located south of Ann Arbor, along the US-12 Corridor.
Administration:
Responsible for managing the operations of the entire Department including:
- Recruitment, Background Investigations and Personnel Management.
- Budget and Grant Management.
- Investigation of Citizen Complaints.
- Internal Policy and Legal Updates
- Administrative functions and projects delegated by the City Council or City Manager.
- Planning and Research.
Records:
Responsible for the processing of warrants, subpoenas and the preparation of all police reports and
correspondence including confidential research generated by departmental personnel. This section also compiles departmental statistics, maintains files, orders supplies and maintains the department's training and personnel records.
Patrol:
Has the responsibility for carrying out the Department's principal function of regulating criminal activity and for providing emergency and other public services.
Specialty Assignments:
Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, Department Armorer, Radar and Camera, Property Control Officer, Arrest and Control Instructor, and Detective and Safety Town.
Communications:
The Department's dispatch operation are provided by the desk officer/dispatcher who also maintans the public counter, and oversees the security of the building and any prisoners.
Sworn Officer Ranks:
Includes a Chief, Sergeants, Detective, Full-Time Patrol Officers, Part-Time Patrol Officers and Reserve Officers.
